SEO Questions and Answers

How long does SEO take?

This is question number one for a reason! The truth is that your business Search Engine Optimisation is not a quick turnaround process.  You won't simply change your keywords, speed, site headers, header layout and such and then magically appear in the top rankings a few weeks later.

The answer that SEO agencies should be giving you when you ask "when will my website rank higher" or "how long will it take until I see results" from SEO is at least 6 months.  Your SEO implementation, to get your website up the ranks of Google and Bing and Facebook etc, should be overlayed with a 12 month plan where monitoring, ongoing competitor analysis , growing backlinks and adjustments are looked at once a month whilst expanding content.

How Long Does Google Take To Index?

For a new website, once submitted for indexing and ranking, it is said that it takes between 4 days and 4 weeks.

How Do I Submit My Site To Google?

GSD Digital & Unlimited can do this for you as a part of our implementation services however if you wish to do this yourself it is very straight forward :

  1. Go to: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ and log in
  2. If you haven't already, add and verify the site with the "Add a Site" button
  3. Click on the site name for the one you want to manage
  4. Click Crawl -> Fetch as Google
  5. Optional: if you want to do a specific page only, type in the URL
  6. Click Fetch
  7. Click Submit to Index
  8. Select either "URL" or "URL and its direct links"
  9. Click OK and you're done.

As long as every page can be reached from some link on the initial page or a page that it links to, Google should crawl the whole site. If you want to explicitly tell it a list of pages to crawl on the domain, you can follow the directions to submit a sitemap which will also help your SEO.

What Will Be In My Monthly SEO Report?

Following the initial analysis and review, working with your business, assessing products, competitors etc, GSD will deliver monthly reports on your ranking, your competitor rankings, any new or outstanding SEO issues with over 70 parameters checked across your entire website, keyword use popularity, potential improvement strategies including updating specific words and content.

What's The Difference Between Accessibility and SEO?

We include accessibility reporting on website reviews as believe it to be just as important to your success.  SEO is all about the wording and structure (keywords behind the scenes) of your website.  Accessibility is about the usability and "access", particularly for those with disabilities, big or small, even as simple as color blindess.

If a color blind person cannot read your website, even though the wording and content of the text is perfect for SEO, you are going to miss a lead or sale, it's as simple as that!
